About Jasmine

Hi! I'm a recent high school graduate who is passionate about helping younger students discover their confidence and potential in learning.

I'm currently taking a gap year before beginning university studies in Business and Psychology, and I'm offering tutoring as a way to share the skills and knowledge I've developed throughout my own time at school. Having only recently graduated, I understand what it's like to be a student and the pressures that can come with schoolwork, assignments and trying to understand something that just doesn't seem to click. I want to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and taking their time to understand something properly.

English has always been one of my strongest subjects. Throughout high school I was placed in the top-level English class and received a Merit endorsement in English in Year 11. I particularly enjoy reading, creative writing, storytelling and exploring mythology and literature.

Outside of my academic experience, I have spent approximately five years babysitting and, from Year 10 through Year 13, I founded and ran a student drama club. Through the drama club, I worked with younger students to develop their acting and performance skills while encouraging them to become more confident, express themselves and come out of their shell. This experience showed me how rewarding it can be to help someone grow when they are given patience, encouragement and someone who believes in them.

My approach to tutoring is therefore about more than simply improving grades. I want my students to understand what they're learning, feel proud of their progress and develop confidence in their own abilities. Every student learns differently and I will do my best to adapt my lessons to suit their individual personality, learning style and goals.

I'm friendly, patient and committed to providing a professional and respectful learning environment. While I am beginning my journey as a formal tutor, I bring years of experience working with younger students, a strong academic background in English and a genuine enthusiasm for helping others learn.

About the lesson

I offer friendly, supportive tutoring for students from Primary School through to High School, with a focus on English, Reading, Creative Writing, Ancient Greek mythology and related topics. My goal is to help students not only improve their skills, but also become more confident and comfortable with the subject.

My Teaching Approach

I believe students learn best when lessons are relaxed, encouraging and tailored to their individual needs. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I aim to guide them through the process so they can develop their own understanding and problem-solving skills.

Depending on the student's needs, lessons may include:

* Going through schoolwork, assignments, or areas they are struggling with
* Reading comprehension and discussion
* Vocabulary, spelling, grammar and sentence structure
* Creative writing exercises and developing stories, characters and ideas
* Essay planning and structuring
* Practicing analysis and interpretation of texts
* Exploring Ancient Greek mythology, stories, characters and cultural context
* Fun activities and exercises to make learning more engaging

I will adjust my approach depending on the student's age, ability, learning style and goals. I want lessons to feel like a safe space where students can ask questions, make mistakes and learn without feeling judged.

Lesson Length

Lessons are typically 45–60 minutes, depending on the student's age, concentration and individual needs. Longer sessions can also be discussed if appropriate.

My Experience & Background

Although I am new to formal one-on-one tutoring, I have several years of experience working with and supporting younger students.

I have been babysitting for approximately five years, giving me experience caring for children, keeping them engaged, communicating clearly and adapting to different personalities and needs.

From Year 10 through to Year 13, I also founded and ran a student drama club, where I worked with younger students and helped them develop acting and performance skills. I taught students different aspects of drama, encouraged them to participate and helped them build confidence and become more comfortable coming out of their shell. This experience taught me how important patience, encouragement and adapting to each student's individual personality can be.

Academically, I recently graduated high school and am currently taking a gap year before beginning university studies in Business and Psychology.

I also have a particular interest in Ancient Greek mythology and literature. I have independently studied various Greek myths and related topics, alongside learning about Greek mythology and culture through my Drama classes. I am particularly happy to help students explore mythology, ancient stories and creative writing inspired by them.
