About Andrea
I am an English Professor with a passion for teaching students of all ages how to read critically and write efficiently. My teaching philosophy is "Each one, Reach one then Teach One." I believe that teaching is a political act which means all students from every background, ability and culture deserved access to quality education.

Whether I am working with one student, a small group or full classroom, my approach to teaching is to offer guided practice on the lesson followed by an independent assignment. I recognize that all students learn differently, therefore I offer a variety of styles from kinesthetic, oral to visual approaches to each lesson. Like the Brazilian activist/ educator Paulo Freire, I ascribe to the "Problem-Posing" approach to teaching where open dialogue and discussion is made available between students, peers and teacher in every session or class meeting.
