About Lucy
I am an English Literature and Music undergraduate in my final year at the University of Leeds. I have completed a module called ‘Students into Schools’ where I worked in a secondary school for students with autism as an English and Music assistant. I also volunteered in a primary school in Fiji for a month where I tutored English literacy and comprehension. I worked as an au pair for a year in Brussels where I helped the younger children with their English homework and proofread the older children’s essays.

My teaching methodology is to encourage creativity and comprehension in the students. When reading books, I encourage the students to act out scenes or to write short stories about what they think the characters would do in certain situations. In this way the students gain a deeper understanding of the texts and a develop a love for reading. Communication is perhaps the most important skill we possess, and I encourage the students to develop this skill in my lessons. Through learning how to express themselves in their written work, I hope to develop their confidence and communication abilities.
