I use a wide range of teaching methods to ensure the needs of my student are met. I always begin a lesson by assessing a student’s prior knowledge and experience of a particular theme or idea we are exploring. I ensure my questioning is tailored to the lesson objective, ensuring every conversation the student is having is pushing them further towards the goal of the lesson. I also like to ensure my lessons are highly structured and students have clear instructions when it comes to extended writing tasks, using highly effective resources that break down tasks into manageable chunks. A typical lesson would be between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the content that needs to be covered. I like to ensure there is enough time for the student to ask questions before they complete an independent task. I have taught English in two secondary schools up to GCSE level and my students have all either achieved or surpassed their target grades. I have also taught students at KS3 level, meaning I am experienced teaching students from 11 to 16 Years old.
