About Jamie
I have years of experience tutoring at Rider University. I met one on one with undergraduate, graduate, and continuing studies students in a wide array of disciplines. I also worked closely with students for which English was a second language; I helped them with grammar and usage so their essays were clear and consistent. Many students came every week over the course of a semester or year, and I was able to see a remarkable improvement in their common mistakes, as well as the grades they were receiving.

I have received training to work in the Student Success Center at Rider University which fostered my skills in tutoring. I work one on one with students, so that I can grow an encouraging and helpful relationship. The point of my tutoring is not to give the answers, but guide students through their mistakes so they can find the answer themselves. I focus on "high level" problems in their writing first, like clarity, a demonstration of understanding, and following teacher instructions. After, we go over "low level" problems, like spelling and punctuation. I also implement "fast facts" worksheets to help students review common problems. These might be a worksheet to help a student outline their paper, review grammar rules, or cite their work in the proper format.
