About Jack
I'm passionate about English Literature, having spent three years studying it at St. Edmund Hall, University of Oxford. During my time there, I covered the entire history of English Literature, from its earliest beginnings around the year 1000, through Chaucer and Gower in the Middle Ages, Shakespeare, Milton, and Marlowe in the Renaissance, Austen, the Brontës, George Eliot, Dickens, Hopkins, and Oscar Wilde in the 19th century, and then onto T.S. Eliot, Pound, Beckett, Amis, Auden, Joyce, and Nabokov in the 20th century. I'm well-equipped to support you with any novelist or poet, and also have a firm grounding in English Language, having received First-Class marks on my English Language papers at Oxford.

My experience is broad, having tutored those from age 8 upwards, all the way up to university students. I have had my largest amount of experience at GCSE and A-Level, where I aim to give students a strong familiarity with close reading techniques, work hard to simplify the contextual knowledge that they will need for their exam, and tailor my teaching closely to the assessment objectives of their particular examination board.
