About Edward
Having gained a first class degree in English and Film I know how to achieve success in the subject and find it very rewarding to help my students do the same.
Having had my own challenges with dyslexia, I feel equipped to teach those who may feel daunted by the curriculum; equally I am delighted to teach those who wish to be stretched to achieve the highest grades.

I have experience teaching students of all abilities and specialise in encouraging an engagement with the text which is fundamental to academic achievement.
I am able to reinforce and expand upon an existing curriculum as well as provide an alternative to what is being taught in the classroom.
My lessons typically aim to foster conversations on the text which may then be used to discover relevant critical approaches and expand the student's understanding. This is usually combined with selected close-reading through which essay writing skills can be refined.
I can provide a wide range of critical approaches, knowledge of prevailing historical modes of thought and academic criticism to contextualise a set text.
I am also able to set and mark work outside of our sessions, if requested.
