About Cheryl
Hello!! My name is Cheryl and I’m a friendly, patient, and easy-going tutor who enjoys helping students feel more comfortable with subjects that can sometimes seem intimidating. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive space where it doesn’t feel stressful. I tutor math, chemistry, and physics, and I focus on helping students truly understand the material rather than memorizing steps. I adapt my explanations to different learning styles and take the time to strengthen foundations so concepts actually make sense and stick. I’m currently pursuing an engineering pathway, which has strengthened my problem-solving skills and deepened my understanding of these subjects. I also genuinely enjoy them and tutoring gives me the opportunity to stay engaged with topics I find interesting while helping others build confidence and succeed academically.

My approach as a tutor is very student-focused and adaptive. I take the time to understand how the student thinks, where they’re struggling, and why the material isn’t clicking. In subjects like math, chemistry, and physics, I focus on strengthening weak points by breaking concepts down into clear, logical steps. I explain ideas in ways that match the student’s learning style, personality, and interests, using simple explanations, visuals, and real-world examples to make things make sense and stick. Lessons are interactive and paced to the student, with guided practice and opportunities for them to explain concepts back in their own words. What sets me apart is my ability to personalize explanations and ensure content retention. My goal is to help students build real understanding and confidence, not just memorize formulas. I tutor middle school, high school, and CEGEP students in math, chemistry, and physics, whether for homework help, concept review, or exam prep.
