About Keira
Hello My Name is Keira and I am an Engineering student at the University of Edinburgh and am currently in my second year. I love to help people learn and am always up for learning something new myself. I enjoy listening to music, reading fantasy books, doing origami and watching anime.
I am a Christian however would like to be very clear that I support the LGBT+ community and am Bi myself. I am happy to help with any problem even if not subject related. My job is to help the students learn and if something is distracting them it is most important to get that out of the way so that it doesn't interfere with learning. Overall I'm a friendly face to help with your maths and engineering problems.

How I teach is dependent on the student. For a student who is doing well and wants to look a little further ahead with their learning I will first make sure that they know everything they need to know for their closest exams then teach them further knowledge. For the students who are struggling I focus on getting to know the student and their interests to be able to connect those interests into lessons while teaching tricks to pass rather than general knowledge of the subject.
Lesson length will be around 1 hour however I am happy to increase that to 2 hours or decrease it to half an hour depending on what the student needs.
I gained all band 1 A's in my National 5 and Higher exams and am now doing well with maths at a university level usually scoring between 60% and 90%. I have experience helping my friends who are less maths focused as well as my little sister who enjoys exploring more of the subject than she needs to be taught at the time.
My lessons are for those in Secondary School from those in first year to who have yet to sit their Higher exams. I am happy to help those of any capability so long as they want to learn and improve.
I plan to teach mostly online however if you live in east Lothian or central Edinburgh I would be willing to come to your house or meet at a local Cafe if you feel that in person sessions would be more beneficial.

Details
I plan to use the books you're using in class to teach you so that your style of working is the same as the rest of your class and matches your teachers expectations. However my preferred maths books would be the TJ books for National 5 level and below and the Higher Mathematics book by Robert Barclay, Brian J. Logan and Mike Smith for higher level. However don't forget that when paying for a tutor you're not just paying for the time spent in each session but also the time spent preparing for the lesson which we can't do without information on what you're struggling with.
