About Maike
Hi! My name is Maike and I am from Germany but I studied Physics at university in the UK. At the moment, I am an Engineering PhD student at Oxford. I enjoy tutoring Physics and Maths because I believe that science is for everybody regardless of gender - and it doesn't need to be as hard as people make it out to be! Whether you like these subjects in school already or just don't get them, I am sure we can figure it out together.
I have a successful academic track record, recently achieving 84% in my final year of Undergraduate Physics at Imperial College London. I am very happy to tutor students in sciences to help out their grades or prepare for entrance exams into sixth form colleges or university.

I believe in an active learning approach that involves maximal student engagement. In a typical 1 hour lesson, I will explain a concept followed by extensive practice together with the student to check their depth of understanding. I can tutor ages 13-18 and have two years of tutoring experience.

I have had the enjoyment of working alongside Maike as a peer at university for several years. Maike not only achieves fantastic grades throughout her studies and is highly academically gifted but is also a great communicator when it comes to difficult concepts. Maike is highly approachable with questions covering all manner of topics, and is very able to explain concepts in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences. Maike truly excels in breaking down complicated theory into more comprehensible bits for me to understand thoroughly. Unlike some others, she also doesn't get angry with you for not understanding and brings about a lot of patience - just what I needed.
