About Duncan
I have been a Maths Teacher / Tutor for 5 years now, finishing my PGCE in 2022.
I have tutored many students on an individual basis and find the personal touch to be most effective at boosting grades.
My degree is in Mechanical engineering and I try to incorporate real-life maths into my lessons as much as possible, I find this helps provide context to students' learning and thus aids retention.
I am also an ex-professional downhill unicyclist, I was ranked #1 in the UK in 2016.

I am an experienced Maths teacher and tutor, having taught the Edexcel GCSE curriculum for 5 years. My lessons are engaging and easy to follow. I can tailor sessions to your ability level and have helped many students increase their maths grade in as little as 12 weeks.
I have access to an extensive resource bank with differentiated lessons for both higher and foundation students.
My lessons will usually consist of a quick 10-question starter. This is followed by a lesson which consists of clear modelled methods followed by aided practice and finally independent practice (I do, we do, you do). Lessons usually end with a plenary activity, e.g. Bingo, I find a game is helpful to keep interest with repetitive practice.
In later years (Year 10-11) I also include exam practice in all my lessons.
