About Alana
About Me – A Proven Path to Empowerment Through Experience and Education My journey into coaching and instruction began in 2009 when I trained as a Developmental Service Worker at Humber College. One of my first roles involved working directly in the community to build employment opportunities for individuals in supported housing programs. I partnered with local businesses and employers to create inclusive job placements, then matched those opportunities with the right supports—ensuring individuals had the training, coaching, and confidence they needed to succeed in the workforce. I expanded this work to support young adults with developmental disabilities and their families as they transitioned from high school into adulthood. I provided guidance on employment preparation, post-secondary navigation, and community engagement—always focusing on dignity, autonomy, and possibility. My commitment to inclusive education deepened as I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Disability Studies, where I began to specialize in teaching adult learners. For five years, I worked as a college instructor, developing and delivering pre-placement courses that prepared students for real-world job success. I taught everything from resume and cover letter writing to interview strategies—focusing not only on what employers look for but how students could stand out with professionalism, preparation, and authentic confidence. But life doesn’t always follow a straight path. My own journey took a turn when I—and my family—began facing serious personal health challenges. It was through this lived experience that I truly understood the gaps in support for individuals and families navigating chronic illness, career disruption, and life transitions. I realized how much more we needed—not just professionally, but personally: someone who could walk alongside us, from beginning to end. That’s what I bring to my tutoring and coaching practice today: a blend of deep professional expertise, academic grounding, and real-life understanding. Whether you’re a student looking for direction, a job seeker rebuilding after burnout, or a family caregiver helping someone you love, I offer comprehensive, compassionate coaching tailored to your needs.
