About Maya
I am a student, soon to be alumni, at Mississippi State University. During my time at this great university, I have been adversity. Something that has been keeping me going and persisting is my desire to teach. Anytime I have written a lesson or taught to a class, I have done it with my future in mind. I am always intentional about my lesson writing because I want to ensure that my writing reaches all students no matter the learning style or cultural background.

My lessons are designed for upper elementary and middle school students. A typical lesson plan of mine would first involve me introducing the content and demonstrating what would be conducted in the lesson. Next, I would create time for you to ask any questions you make have or receive clarity on anything confusing you. After all questions are answered, I would release you and allow you to work at your own pace. A teaching method of mine that I think sets me apart as a tutor is that I believe students are responsible and capable of their own learning. While I am here to educate you, I feel that you know what works best for you when you're learning. I will introduce and instruct you as needed, but I believe in allowing you to take control of your own learning.
