About Josef
I am an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a renowned program, ranked #5 in the country by U.S. News. Mathematics is one of my passions and I have taken and completed up to Calculus 3 and am currently in Linear Algebra. I have always been a 99th percentile math student and have had experience competing since the first grade. I have experience tutoring others in the Math and STEM club as well as various people I know coming to me for help, and I have had great results that I can go into detail about. As a student myself, I will have patience and be able to relate to my students very strongly while also helping them produce strong results.

Something I hear all the time is people saying that "they're bad at math", and I've come to realize this is because their fundamentals were not taught properly. I take a very conceptual approach to teaching math, putting emphasis on, for example, understanding an equation rather than memorizing it. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I gained my mathematical prowess through self-teaching, reaching a competitive level. Through this and working with various people, I feel like I have gained a very strong sense of what works well and what doesn't when it comes to teaching people math.
During a lesson, I would take the chapter/unit the student is in and focus on connecting it to real-life examples so that the student can fully conceptualize it, and then focus on their ability to solve various problems using different applications of the concept.
I can teach any middle-school and high-school levels of math, such as algebra, statistics, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus 1, or calculus 2, all subjects I have experience in teaching myself and others.
