About Aya
I'm a third-year electrical engineering student at Queen's University. I worked as a peer tutor during my grade 11 and 12 years of high school and found it to be a very rewarding expirince, both for myself and my students.
I have taught grades 9 through 11 math and physics and am comfortable teaching grades 9 through 12.

I am comfortable teaching high school math and physics following the Ontario curriculum. When teaching, I emphasize understanding over memorization. I believe little to no memorization is needed in the math and science and if one has a solid understanding of the concepts and I base my lessons around this.
During the first lesson or so, I like gauging how a student tackles problems. This helps me adjust my teaching style to reflect on how they learn best. I also like to gauge the depth of their understanding of the material to find areas for improvement they may not have noticed. I use a combintion of concept explanations and example problems.
