About Ricky
Hi, my name is Ricky, and I'm an economist who worked in Congress, and now am a political director at a non-profit. I also have experience in the natural sciences. I majored in biology (minors: chemistry, physics) and political science (minor: economics). My master's degree is in economics. Outside of work, I like to analyze data and write on my personal blog about different policy issues.

My lessons are designed to teach the concepts and the "why" behind what we learn and apply them to real-world situations. In my previous tutoring experiences, I noticed this leads to much better outcomes and engagement. While tutoring, I keep students engaged by asking questions or repeating lessons back to me. I believe that true mastery is when the student can teach me the material and answer difficult questions on the topic. I used this method successfully in tutoring high schoolers and college students.
