About Prerak
I am currently an Economics undergraduate at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I have been giving lessons in-person at school for 2 years, helping younger pupils in mathematics and science at GCSE level. I have taught 3 students on a weekly basis over those 2 years at school, significantly improving their end-of-year exam grades by 2 grades on averages. Moreover, during the COVID-19 lockdown, I have tutored 2 other students online twice a week for 4 months in GCSE Maths and Physics and IB Maths.
I have great experience in Maths and Physics, having achieved an A* in both at GCSEs (and A* with distinction in Further Maths), and a 7 (top grade) in both Higher Level Maths and Physics at IB (equivalent to A-Level).
The primary reason I love to tutor is that it gives me a chance to help students with any topics they feel uncomfortable within Maths, Physics or Economics, enabling them to unlock their full potential. I can empathise with students that find certain topics quite difficult, as I was once in that position too. Often, students need an alternative perspective on a question to tackle it; a perspective that school may not always be able to provide. As a tutor, I hope to be able to provide this perspective to students, enabling them to more easily tackle a question or understand a new concept or topic.

My teaching method is to first understand what specific topics or concepts a student is struggling with or just needs to go over, and then provide support from there. I would usually provide this support by asking the student questions (displayed on a whiteboard) on the topic, starting off easy, but then getting progressively harder, easing the student into the question. Once the student has become comfortable with the specific question type, I will provide more, similar questions, hopefully cementing the student's understanding of that specific topic. As exams grow closer, however, I will place an increased emphasis on doing past papers to improve exam technique and the student's overall understanding of the subject.
