About Carl
I am a lifelong learner, committed to both a life of the mind and a life of the body, so long as I am always growing in the mastery of my current craft. I am currently training as a cyclist and working as a professional baker.
I am interested in tutoring because my joy for learning is multiplied when I can encourage it in the next generation of students. It can be difficult to cultivate curiosity alone; I am eager to take on the charge of doing so together.

I started peer tutoring high school students, student-athletes, eventually progressing to taking on Ivy League students as clients in university-level calculus and economics. I prepare lessons before delivery, which usually last between one and two hours.
My approach to tutoring isn't simply about giving a pupil help with assignments, but rather passing on an excitement and understanding of both content (curriculum) and form (learning as a whole). I believe in the importance of trust, patience, and respect necessary for an effective teaching and learning relationship. In setting student-specific objectives for a cycle of my lessons, I like to establish concrete goals related to the pupil's curriculum and broader horizons for them to strive for as learners in their own right.
