About Latoya
I am a award winning recording artist. I am heavily invested in the music industry and I am passionate about doing these lessons and offer an alternative method of learning as people often say they want to learn yet there are too old or it's too late. It's never too late, so this is a way for me to share what has worked for me and what I have learnt as pianist for the past 18 years. If you want to learn piano as a hobby this will be a great class.

I am a classically trained jazz pianist. I started lessons from the age of 9 years and graduated with a degree in music production at creative arts college . One thing that often puts people off learning piano is the overly strict way in which teachers administer lessons ( I had the piano teacher banging my fingers at school for getting the notes wrong lol ) this can curb ones enthusiasm to learn, especially when you have to learn how to play a song like Claude Debussy's - Clair Delune but have to play it exactly like in 1890. I can teach you the fundamentals you need to know so you can express the music as you feel but still be playing the right notes and understanding the piano art, this is where the freedom of jazz comes in to the picture. It's a new way which works especially if you learn better by ear than reading notes.

Latoya is such a talented pianist, she has a gift to improvise live with musicians she barely knows and turn music into a show. She has great vocal techniques too, and she is super patient. Expect a friendly and cool tutor, getting out of her way to make sure you learn the right stuff.
