About James
I am an early career historian based in Norwich. I hold a BA(Hons) in Medieval History from Queen Mary, University of London, and an MA in Medieval history from UEA. I have just completed my PhD in history at UEA (currently awaiting my Viva).
In my role as an associate tutor at UEA I have developed and run modules for undergraduates including specially designed modules for international students, as well as participating in projects aimed at giving A-level students access to universities. I have experience of teaching students from a diverse background, including mature students, non-English speakers, and students with a range of disabilities including blindness.
I am currently in the process of writing my first book and I regularly publish articles and reviews in academic journals (for which I have won awards) as well as regularly presenting research at conferences.

I tailor all my teaching to the needs of the individual. I make sessions as interactive as possible deploying discussions, exercises and using a range of teaching materials, such as documents and visual sources. All sessions are directly relevant to the needs of the student. Primarily I devise sessions to be a discussion between myself and the student, providing them with the necessary information and having them apply that information to a problem/ question. My lessons are however entirely flexible and designed to be bespoke for each individual.
