About Mohammed
I have a 2:1 in Economics from Durham University and a strong track record in quantitative modules, and I’ve spent the last few years deeply engaged with maths, statistics and applied economics in both my degree and my own finance/markets work. This means I can show students not just the syllabus content, but also how it connects to real-world examples like inflation, markets and business decisions.
My lessons are aimed at GCSE and A-Level students studying Maths and Economics (from roughly ages 14–18), including those who feel they are “behind” and need to rebuild confidence as well as stronger students aiming for top grades. I’m happy to work with both state and independent school students, and I can adapt to different exam boards and learning styles.

I’m a Durham Economics graduate with a strong quantitative background, and my approach is calm, structured and highly exam-focused. I start by identifying a student’s exact gaps, then break complex ideas into simple, intuitive steps before building back up to exam-standard questions.
In lessons, I combine short explanations with guided practice, past-paper questions and active recall so students learn *how* to think, not just memorise methods. I use clear frameworks (step-by-step routines, checklists, and common “traps” examiners use) and constantly ask the student to talk through their reasoning so I can correct misunderstandings early.
A typical lesson is 60 minutes, with a quick check-in on goals, a focused block on one or two topics, timed practice, and a brief recap plus homework suggestions. For students preparing for mocks or final exams, I can also run 90-minute sessions that simulate real exam conditions.
