About Jason
I treat tutoring with the same academic rigor which has allowed me to complete more than 30 credits of collegiate coursework at PennWest University while pursuing a psychology degree while finishing high school, all with a 4.0 GPA. I am the founder and president of my debate team, which has given me real experience teaching rhetoric and argument to help build a successful team. Overall, I offer the demographic understanding of being in high school combined with the academic prowess of a collegiate learner. Expect clear communication, receptiveness to change, and a positive and empathetic attitude.

I am open to any Elementary, Middle, or High School English student, whether they are looking for help with a specific issue or just looking to increase their comfort in any field of English: literacy, grammar, reading comprehension, narrative or explanatory writing, research, and especially rhetoric.
I offer a unique advantage. I understand the modern era of education because I am within it. I am presently in high school, and therefore my peer group are high schoolers and I am well adept with making concepts more personally understandable. Where I differ from other high school students is that my high school coursework is entirely completed, and I have already completed over 30 college credits through full-time dual enrollment, working toward a degree in psychology. Drawing on this academic background, I also have a specialty in preparing students to present and compose arguments as the founder and President of my debate team.
A lesson will go as follows. Diagnostic is the most important part. Because of my similarity in demographic, the goal will be to empathetically understand the students' issues and roadblocks. I sincerely believe that there is no student incapable of success, and so it is important to personally figure out what the roadblocks are. Secondly, I will draw on a cognitive approach. This means I want to train the student to think about thinking. When reaching problems, I want them to be able to identify them. Finally, the bulk of the lesson will be spent on teaching the student strategies to work through the challenge when one is met.
Ultimately, my goal extends beyond English. I am at a unique intersection of demographic accessibility combined with academic experience that allows me to do my best to build in the student an internal locus of control, meaning I want them to understand that success, sometimes called an internal locus of control, ultimately lies in their own hands.
