About Jamie
I started playing the drums aged 8, playing in bands from aged 12 and from there I was hooked! I continued to study the drums and music throughout my school years up to university level where I achieved BA (Hons) in Music in 2014. After finishing my studies at university I have been working as a private drum teacher and session musician teaching hundreds of students as well as working with many high profile musicians and producers in the UK scene as a studio musician such as Robbie McIntosh (Paul McCartney, John Mayer, The Pretenders), Steve Smith (Robert Plant, Pete Townshend) Mark Tucker (Portishead, Jethro Tull), Jon Sweet (Cliff Richard) and many more. Throughout this period I went on to continue my own drumming development studying with a number of well-known British drummers such as Ian Thomas (Michael Jackson, Sting, Mark Knopfler), Steve White (Paul Weller) and Pete Cater (Pete Cater Big Band) to name a few. I have also attended many drumming masterclasses to learn from some of the world's best drummers including: Dave Weckl (Paul Simon, Chick Corea) Keith Carlock (Toto, Steely Dan) as well as Craig Blundell (Steve Hackett, Steve Wilson) to name a few. Studying with other professionals inspired me to share this knowledge with other people who have the same passion I have for drumming and music

Hi I’m Jamie and I am offering one to one drum lessons for people of all ages and abilities. Lessons are tailored to you and what you want to learn. Lessons can cover a range of areas including: - Learning to play along to your favourite music, artists/bands. - Reading and performing drum music/notation. - Drum grades 1-8 (Rockschool and Trinity Rock and Pop available) - Learn to play in a wide range of styles from rock, pop, blues, jazz, reggae, Latin and more. - Learn to play with consistent timing and feel. - Move on to more advanced studies, odd time signatures, linear, independence, polyrhythms and more. Lessons are held either in person at a music studio based in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, BH21 or I can accommodate online lessons from the comfort of your own home via zoom. I am fully DBS Checked and public liability insured. Jamie has tutored my son through his grades (currently on Grade 8) and he couldn't wish for a better tutor. Jamie is very patient, yet never wastes a minute of lesson time. I highly recommend him for any grade, any genre or for anyone that just wants to have fun learning to play the drums.
Jamie has been teaching our 10 year old now for 3 months and we can’t fault him. We have lessons on line. He is punctual, reliable and responsible. He provides clear and patient instructions throughout the lesson and concise updates afterwards, keeping us advised of our son’s progress. Our son loves his lessons with Jamie and finds Jamie to be a fun tutor. Jamie has supported and strengthened our son’s interest in music and we are so glad we found him! My son has been taught by Jamie for 2 years approx and Jamie is fantastic so patient and calm and my son has high functioning autism and rarely lasts at anything but loves his drum lessons and Jamie, and my son really has come on and I’m so proud when I hear him play the drums. Jamie is the Best!

Jamie is an excellent teacher- structured but flexible and engaging. He adapts music styles to the student and that maintains the motivation and energy of the lessons.
