About Lorenzo
I have taught all topics of GCSE, A-levels and undergraduate Mathematics and Physics (e.g. trigonometry, derivatives, integrals, trigonometry, parametric equations, mechanics, thermodynamics, optics), and several topics of undergraduate Mathematics and Physics (e.g. linear algebra, calculus, classical mechanics, special relativity).
After my lessons, students were able to quickly catch up with the course material and obtain excellent grades in their examinations. I also helped a group of talented high school pupils to prepare for the National Olympiads of Physics, and gave 1 lecture to a high school class in Physics and Mathematics.

I first tailor my lessons around the student's needs by making sure I am aware of the specific requirement of their courses and the information provided.
My teaching method is based on the use of several examples as the easiest way to fully understand even the most advanced topics in Mathematics.
These provide both a theoretical knowledge of the subject and the ability to solve practical exercises.
My way to test that the student is making progress is through frequent interactions with him or her: I typically ask simple, conceptual questions, and I make sure the student can solve short or long exercises (depending on the requirements of their course).
My experience lets me quickly identify the gaps in a student's preparation, and to quickly remove these, before moving on to refining his or her knowledge of the subject.
I consider myself a very friendly and sociable person and I have always found that helping motivated students to achieve their goals is one of the most rewarding experiences. This reflects also in my passion for teaching basketball to young kids.

Perfect! Firstly, Lorenzo’s grasp of different areas of Physics is extremely strong, and is honestly is remarkable. He caters to different situations, for different students, and he has honestly significantly helped me. 10/10 tutor.
Perfect! I was looking for a tutor to assist me with Masters level general relativity and was fortunate to come across Lorenzo. We caught up on a lot of material we had missed during lectures in one session with Lorenzo. He is a wealth of knowledge, a genuinely nice person, and a patient teacher. It is an absolute pleasure to work with Lorenzo. He is extremely passionate about his subject matter and was willing to spend as much time as necessary to ensure that the key concepts of the material he presented were understood before proceeding to the next phase of the lesson. If I had a question outside of a session, I could message him and he always responded promptly. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for assistance with advanced topics, as he is an outstanding tutor!
Perfect! Lorenzo has been great and he has supported me with Calculus and Statistics in my Master’s degree. He explains everything very well! I am grateful.
- Fabiana is a very keen student. She is ready to work hard to achieve a good understanding of the subject, and she absorbs everything you teach her.Lorenzo's response :
Perfect! Lorenzo is excellent at explaining concepts in a way that ensures you don't just get the right answer, but you understand exactly how and why it's correct. Highly recommended!
- Teaching Nicholas is a pleasure, since he is very keen and willing to make an effort to fully internalise the concepts discussed. He also has a clear vision of what he still needs to learn and improve, so he's able to point the tutor to the topics to cover (which greatly improves the quality of the lessons).Lorenzo's response :

Lorenzo is great and makes hard math very simple!
Lorenzo and I are work colleagues. In my experience, he has a very good understanding of Maths. This is evident from the numerous discussions I have had with him. He is good at explaining even hard to grasp concepts in a lucid manner. Moreover, he has gained significant experience after working as a teaching assistant at Queen Mary. Apart from the academic stuff, he is a friendly and cheerful guy. This makes him approachable, which is an essential feature of a good teacher.
I have known Lorenzo since the start of my PhD and share my office with him. He is a very friendly, patient and intelligent individual. In the past I have spoken to him on numerous occasions on areas of mathematics within his expertise. Every time he has been able to explain the topic in two ways to me: The first being the informal way which helps with the motivation of the topic; the second being more formal and rigorous. Both ways have filled my curiosity in the topic which then encourages me to read more into the topic. If Lorenzo is able to explain such advanced topics to me in such a clear and concise way I am sure, when it comes to teaching others in fundamental mathematics, with his experience he will do an outstanding job.
Lorenzo is a great tutor. I've been knowing him since long time and it's the most trustworthy person. We both were PhD students in London and we spent good time together talking about science. When it comes to teaching, he always knows the best way to explain even the hardest concepts to students of any age. Along with this he knows very well how to make a young student confident again with mathematics and other scientific disciplines. Try him! Ask him how a black hole loses energy with time in the deep space out there!
Lorenzo was my colleague during my PhD studies in London. I was very lucky to have a desk that was close to his because anytime I would be stuck on a mathematical concept I would directly ask Lorenzo.
His ability to explain complex ideas in very simple ways is quite remarkable. Somehow he knows exactly what it is that you've misunderstood, and he clarifies it with good examples and explanations. He never got tired or annoyed with my questions; on the other hand I felt that he really enjoyed being able to help someone else. I always told him that he was born to teach, and I still believe that.Lorenzo is a perfect choice for online scientific tutoring because of his wide scientific preparation, a great eye for detail and a unique ability to explain complex concepts in a really simple way.
Once, I needed to apply a Fourier transformation to a differential equation and I tried for about 3 days with no success.
I asked him for help and, thanks to his support, I was capable to master the necessary skills in one afternoon; I wish I could have asked him earlier!
Luca Banetta, Chemical Engineering graduate student at the University of Cambridge.I studied with Lorenzo while I was in Cambridge with him. He is brilliant, enthusiastic, cheerful and very supporting. I must admit, I owe my Distinction also to him. He is an excellent choice as a tutor.
