About Michael
Ironically, being in the Marine Corps taught me that kindness is often key in teaching any skill. The tests themselves are often difficult enough that compounding that with unnecessary stress causes good students to doubt themselves and resent learning, and discovering this about myself and others is what drives me to help others see just how smart they have always been. I've been lucky enough to be taught by people from every background and walk of life, and from four continents, and I try to do what I can to give back.
Other than that, my personal interests include creative writing (I have a novel in progress), Martial Arts (specifically Kendo and Jujutsu), and cooking.

I mold my teaching method based on the student themselves. If the student needs help identifying their learning style, I can teach them how to do so. For every student, we identify the goals, such as improving grades in a particular class or passing a specific test, or better understanding English or Literature for its own sake. Once we've identified these goals and the most effective learning style, we practice studying, doing homework, or testing together and follow up on previous sessions to adjust if necessary. The goal of tutoring is a more independent student.
