About Anthony James
I'm a first-year Aerospace Engineering student at Queen Mary University of London having recently completed A-levels in Maths, Physics and Sociology. I achieved DofE Gold which taught me the discipline and commitment I bring into every lesson. Outside of school, I have been boxing for three years, train at the gym, and play music at my church which keeps me focused and level-headed. I want to start tutoring as when I was in secondary, my maths grade wasn't on track and my school gave me a tutor which helped me achieve a 9 in GCSE. At the time I felt uneasy about it as I have never needed help especially with maths. Therefore, I know how important a good tutor can be and I want to give the same experience and success to others who may feel ashamed about needing extra assistance.

I recently completed A-levels in Maths and Physics myself, so I know exactly where students get stuck and know how frustrating it is when struggling to understand a topic or find an answer. I break topics down step by step, starting with the core concept before moving to exam-style questions, so students build real understanding rather than memorising steps. If a student is preparing for an exam, I prefer to give small topic tests to see the gaps in understanding and then teach from there to save time. I tend to use the appropriate technical language needed but nothing more as I believe in breaking complex topics in simple steps. I tutored students in the younger years whilst I was in school helping one particular student to achieve a 9 in their GCSE Physics. I also have experience in helping international students where I helped someone pass their English GCSE despite it being their second language. I now study Aerospace Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. Lessons typically run 1 hour and suit GCSE and A-level students in Maths and Physics. Patient, encouraging, and focused on building genuine confidence.
