About Bassim
Hello there! My name is Bassim and I am a fourth year student studying Applied Physics with Honours at Simon Fraser University. Ever since I was four years of age, I have always been fascinated by the universe and our place in it. I have a deep passion for how the world works, and for this reason I have pursued physics and mathematics, aiming to better my understanding of the world.
If I am not studying, I spend my time reading non-fiction science books about physics and the future, and I sometimes try to teach myself different subjects, particularly topics regarding the technologies that will drastically change the future, from artificial intelligence to materials science, medicine, and quantum computing.
I currently aspire to become a research scientist, pursuing the application of physics in the development of new technologies, with applications in nuclear medicine and cancer research at an interdisciplinary scale.

Students often struggle with the concepts, and this has nothing to do with their capabilities. It is rather the instructors that do not teach according to their different learning style.
My job is to make sure that the student understands the concepts very well, and I do so by meeting them where they are currently at and ask them different questions to evaluate their understanding of the material at-hand.
After discovering where the gaps are in their understanding, I try to boil everything down to their fundamental truths and then reason up from there; for this reason, I’ll be able to break complicated subjects down into easily understandable pieces (instead of just hammering them with the concepts without explanation).
Another vital thing that one should consider is the student’s tendencies to phase out. To avoid letting their attention drift away, I not only try to make the subjects more interesting for them, but I also find parallels between their hobbies and interests, and the content that I teach, and briefly discuss their relations between them to make sure that they are paying attention.
