About Shaun
Chemistry is a weird subject that often gets lost in translation with most students, especially at GCSE. I hope to provide clarity when it comes to explaining complex concepts such as balancing equations, states of matter, and the dreaded electrolysis at GCSE to explaining nucleophilic substitution mechanisms, transition metal chemistry, and electrophilic addition at A level. On the surface level the concepts may seem hard at first but once you get your head around the key ideas in the theory the rest falls into place.

My approach to teaching has emphasis on exam technique and recall methods. This consists of starting and ending each session with an exam question to see the content in the context of an exam , building on the previous sessions content, and highlighting common exam mistakes and tips students can be aware of to ensure they achieve their goals. The typical length of a lesson will be around 45-55 minutes long depending on how content heavy the lesson is. My qualifications consist of strong GCSE and A level grades and currently achieving a 2:1 average, on track for high 2:1/1st class in Chemistry. The lessons are for ages 13-18.
