Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a programming tutor, my teaching method and techniques are tailored to foster a deep understanding of programming concepts and problem-solving skills. Here are some key aspects of my approach:
Fundamental Concepts: I believe in building a strong foundation in programming. I start with fundamental concepts, such as data types, control structures, and algorithms, to ensure a solid grasp of the basics.
Hands-On Coding: Programming is learned best by doing. I provide hands-on coding exercises and projects that challenge students to apply what they've learned. This practical experience helps reinforce their understanding and builds confidence.
Customized Learning: Every student is unique, with different learning styles and goals. I adapt my teaching approach to match the student's needs. Some students may benefit from visual aids, while others may prefer more in-depth discussions.
Real-World Examples: I use real-world examples and case studies to illustrate how programming concepts are applied in the industry. This helps students see the relevance of what they are learning and prepares them for real-world programming challenges.
Debugging and Problem-Solving: Debugging is a crucial skill for programmers. I teach students how to identify and resolve coding errors effectively. I also guide them in developing problem-solving strategies for tackling complex programming tasks.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical programming tutoring session might include the following components:
Review and Questions: I begin by reviewing the previous lesson's material and addressing any questions or concerns the student may have.
New Content: I introduce new programming concepts or topics. This could involve explaining theory, providing code examples, or demonstrating specific programming techniques.
Hands-On Practice: Students work on coding exercises or projects related to the topic covered. I provide guidance and support as they tackle coding challenges.
Code Review: We review the code written by the student, discussing its strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback helps students refine their coding skills.
Homework Assignments: I may assign homework or additional practice exercises to reinforce learning and provide opportunities for independent problem-solving.
Q&A and Recap: We end the session with a recap of key takeaways and address any final questions or concerns.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
Customization: I tailor my teaching to the specific needs and goals of each student. Whether someone is a complete beginner or an experienced programmer looking to enhance their skills, I adapt my approach accordingly.
Real-World Relevance: My emphasis on real-world examples and practical application helps students bridge the gap between theory and practice.
Patience and Support: I am patient and supportive, creating a safe space for students to ask questions and make mistakes. I believe that learning programming is a journey, and I am there to guide and mentor throughout.
Versatility: I am proficient in a variety of programming languages, including Python, Java, C++, and more. This versatility allows me to assist students in their language of choice.
Who the Lessons Are For:
Beginners: Those who are new to programming and want to start from scratch.
Intermediate Learners: Individuals with some programming experience who want to deepen their understanding and skills.
Students: High school students studying computer science or programming-related subjects.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Illango is very knowledgeable and knows her stuff. She is very caring, engages with her student, and makes sure that you understand everything. She is very nice and working with her is a real pleasure :)
Illango is very studious, hard working, and also naturally smart. As her roommate I occasionally get help from her for my homework because she is in a math above me, and her explanations help me understand the material better. I also see her willingness to help others as she will do zoom sessions or go to study groups to help others when she understands concepts that others don't. As a teacher she is patient and understanding, and gives through explanations.
Illango is very patient and has a unique way to make math understandable. If you don't understand it one way, she will find multiple other ways to help you. She helped many of her classmates who were failing to pull up their grade. She was always the student's choice when needed help.
