About Arwen
Hi! I'm a friendly, patient and approachable person who enjoys helping others and seeing people gain confidence in themselves. I'm currently working at a college alongside studying, and I'm also involved in my college's Student Union, which has given me lots of experience communicating with and supporting other students.
I'm naturally quite organised and reliable, and I always try to create a relaxed environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and aren't afraid of getting things wrong. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I like getting to know the person I'm working with and adapting to what works best for them.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, listening to music, travelling and spending time with friends. I have loved studying English, particularly reading and analysing literature, from a young age. I'm also really interested in psychology and criminology, which are subjects I enjoy studying alongside English.
I'm looking forward to helping students feel more confident and hopefully making learning a little less stressful!

My approach to tutoring is friendly, supportive and tailored to each student. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I take the time to understand what a student is struggling with before adapting lessons to suit them. I focus on building confidence alongside improving knowledge and exam technique.
My lessons can include going through difficult topics, breaking down texts and questions, practising essay writing, improving structure and developing exam techniques. I also like to use past-paper questions and worked examples so students can apply what they have learnt rather than simply memorising information.
Lessons are typically 1 hour, although I can be flexible depending on the student's needs. I achieved an A in GCSE English Language and English Literature, and an A at AS Level English Language and Literature, and I am currently studying A-level English Language and Literature. I have recent experience of the WJEC curriculum and understand the expectations and challenges students face with exams and essay-based subjects.
I primarily offer tutoring for GCSE English Language and English Literature, as well as AS Level English. I am particularly happy to work with students who lack confidence in English, need help improving their essay writing or analysis, or want additional support with revision and exam technique.
