About Poppy
My name is Poppy Johnson and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Warwick studying History, after achieving A*, A*, B in A-Level History, Politics and English Language. Alongside an academic interest in the humanities, I have an enduring passion for history, viewing it as not only as a window into the richness of human progress, but also a vital and nuanced lens upon which to view our current world. Alongside this, I am also engaged in politics and international relations as I believe in the importance of political awareness and literacy. Therefore, I seek to teach A-Level History and Politics not just because I wish to use my personal expertise to aid current students, but because my studies of A-Level History and Politics benefited my holistic understanding of the world around me.

Having recently sat and achieved A*s in both A-level History and Politics, I have individual and unique insight into the specific skills, techniques, and habits that achieve the top grades. Therefore, I am able to offer lessons or supplementary sessions alongside a student's study which push them to access those top marks. I am also a History Undergraduate at the University of Warwick meaning that I am able to support my teaching of A-level skills with a broader understanding of scholarly academic writing. My teachings of A-level History and Politics would engage heavily with both the curriculum content required, and the techniques which allow students to conceptualise and synthesise the information- allowing students to not only know the information, but understand it in a thematic and theoretical way. This then contributes itself to the mastery of essay-writing and exam technique- allowing students to access both top tier understanding and execution of their A-Level subjects.
