About Yue Chen
I am from Singapore and a current first year medical student studying at Western Sydney University who graduated from an international school with an IB diploma. I scored a total of 41 IB points with my higher level subjects and the grade I received for them being Geography HL (7), Chemistry HL (7) and Biology HL (6), respectively. I took mathematics Analysis and Approaches SL and received a grade of 7.
I understand and empathise with how challenging studying IB can be and so I aim to be able to help as many IB students as I can by maximising their academic potential.

Lessons are mainly student-centered and for year 12 and below students, especially for IB students. Lessons usually lasts for 1 hour online through zoom (Please let me know if you would like the lesson to be held on a different platform). For requests on subjects not listed, such as primary school chinese, please kindly let me know by contacting me.
Typical lesson will begin with a short quiz related to the lesson topic to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses on that topic. According to the results of the quiz, learning goals or objectives will be formed. Followed by in-depth explanations on parts of the topic that the student struggle with and asking relevant questions to ensure the student understands. Near the end of the lesson, to determine if the student still has any difficulties in the topic, I will ask them to give a short summary on what we have learnt. If lessons with the student occurs continuously, I may ask them whether they have any specific topics that they would like to go through next lesson.
For exam-period lessons, they will mostly involve going through a past paper or exam questions that the student struggle with. In-depth explanations on the questions and the answers will be given.
Specifically for IB, lessons regarding internal assessments (IA) or extended essays (EE) will mainly involve going through the IA or EE marking criteria and determine which parts of the student's IA or EE they can improve on. Examples of IAs and EEs will be given to ensure the student understands what to work on. If the student just started their IA or EE, the first few lessons will mainly include brainstorming topic questions and how to structure their IA or EE.
If there is time at the end of the lesson, I may ask the student to give me some feedback so that I can improve on my methods and help them learn better.
Although I do not have much experience as a tutor, I will utilize my student-centered teaching approach to maximise each students' academic potential.
