About Fiona Hongthong
I am an undergraduate studying mechanical engineering at a Russell Group university. While some people are under the impression that you have to be gifted to achieve the grades required to study engineering, or any STEM degree, I fully believe it only takes a good teacher to support and guide you. I grew up being a D student in mathematics and all things STEM; however, after being tutored by a great man, I scored a 9 in maths during my GCSEs. Ever since then, I have been tutoring family friends and friends of friends for free and running a YouTube channel explaining complex mathematical concepts at a level a middle schooler can understand to prove that maths itself isn't difficult; it is the way it is taught in schools that makes it difficult.

My lessons take place online. While classes are typically 1-2 hours and my rate is per hour, if a student has trouble concentrating and requires shorter lesson times, I will happily adjust the rate as needed. Parents of students or the students themselves may set goals for the class or a certain timeframe (such as understanding a specific topic or being able to achieve a certain grade on past papers). As someone passionate about mathematics, I pride myself on my ability to truly engage with my students by creating maths problems and explaining concepts in a way that is unique to each pupil.
