About Amy
I am a passionate teacher and lifelong learner. During the school year, I teach 8th grade English and run several clubs: Middle School Art Club and Latin Club. I have spent six years as an Outdoor Educator during the summer, with most of my time on the waterfront as a lifeguard or instructor, and on the low ropes and high ropes. I choose to work with kids and teens year-round because I know that each person deserves to have the best experience possible with what they are doing and learning, and I pride myself with doing everything I can to provide that.

I have a BA in English; Creative Writing, a BS in Secondary Education, and I am currently taking graduate classes in Literacy Education. When teaching reading and writing, I try to incorporate a learner’s passions as much as possible. I believe that learning is more than just meeting Common Core Standards and that everyone should be able to have a personal connection to their learning. I have also been an Outdoor Educator for six years, and approach learning academic topics the same way that a person would learn hands-on outdoor skills.
