About Mary
Hello! My name is Mary, and I am a passionate tutor who believes that everyone can improve and achieve their goals. I have been tutoring since high school and am still an active tutor at Virginia Tech as a lead tutor for the Student Success Center. I would love to work with you this summer!

-I follow the College Reading and Learning Association's approach to tutoring.
-I believe in using active learning strategies to improve my students' understanding of difficult concepts.
-I begin my sessions with a quick welcome and establish the student's goals for the session. I then provide individually tailored assistance in order to help my students reach their goals. I end my sessions with a recap of all that was accomplished in the session and steps moving forward.
-I primarily tutor Biology, Calculus I, and Psychology courses at the college level but am confident in my ability to tutor math and science courses at the high school level and below.
