About Harper
Over the past 8 years, I have taught piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults, helping them develop technical proficiency, expressive playing, and performance confidence.
My teaching philosophy emphasises structured learning, consistent practice, and emotional connection with music, focusing on posture, hand coordination, finger control, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical interpretation.
Lessons are carefully designed with technical exercises, repertoire practice, and theory, and I provide guidance on effective home practice to ensure steady progress. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school programs, and competitions, while several have earned high distinctions in graded examinations. My goal is to create a motivating, supportive, and inspiring environment where students feel confident, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential as pianists.

My teaching methodology for piano is student-centred and growth-oriented. I believe that music education should be both disciplined and inspiring. I adapt my instruction to suit each learner’s strengths, challenges, and goals. I emphasise the importance of technical precision, rhythm accuracy, scale mastery, and expressive interpretation.
I guide students carefully through each step of learning, ensuring clarity and confidence. Flexibility allows me to revisit important techniques and adjust pacing according to progress. Collaboration encourages students to communicate openly and take responsibility for their development. A positive environment strengthens motivation and builds self-confidence.
Beyond piano lessons, I also teach music theory, keyboard skills, harmony, and beginner composition to provide a complete musical education.
