About Karen
I have been a substitute teacher since 2010 and have spent the past 3 years as a long-term middle school and high school math substitute teacher. In addition, I have written several math workbooks for parents who home school their children. My approach to tutoring is to evaluate the issues the student is having with math and help them build confidence in their ability to solve math problems and puzzles. My techniques are flexible and tailored to each student and their specific challenges.

Math is basically solving puzzles and problems using a variety of numbers and eventually variables. It DOES NOT HAVE TO BE HARD :) I teach math in a clear easy fashion that is designed to fit each student's style of learning. Many different visual aids and methods are used to help each student see the solution and understand how they got there :) Games and other fun tools are used to help each student overcome their fear and frustration with math and realize they really can do it!
