Teaching Methodology and Techniques:
My teaching methodology is centered around a student-centric approach that focuses on individual learning needs and styles. I use a blend of communicative language teaching (CLT) and task-based learning (TBL) to ensure that students are actively engaged in the learning process and can apply their skills in real-world contexts. I prioritize interactive and immersive experiences, incorporating multimedia resources, authentic texts, and real-life scenarios to make lessons more relatable and engaging. Additionally, I employ scaffolding techniques to gradually build students' confidence and competence in using the English language.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up (5-10 minutes): Start with a brief activity related to the previous lesson or an icebreaker to engage the students and activate their prior knowledge.
Introduction (10 minutes): Introduce the lesson’s objectives and key concepts. Explain how these will be applied in practical contexts.
Main Activity (20-30 minutes): Conduct the main teaching activity, which could involve reading comprehension, listening exercises, speaking practice, or writing tasks. Use interactive methods such as group discussions, role-plays, or problem-solving exercises.
Practice (15-20 minutes): Provide exercises and activities that allow students to practice the new concepts independently or in small groups. Offer guidance and support as needed.
Review and Feedback (10-15 minutes): Review the key points of the lesson and provide feedback on student performance. Encourage students to ask questions and express any difficulties they encountered.
Homework Assignment (5 minutes): Assign relevant homework to reinforce the lesson’s objectives and prepare students for the next class.
What Sets You Apart as a Tutor:
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. I am highly adaptable and responsive to each student’s unique needs, continuously assessing and adjusting my teaching strategies to ensure optimal learning outcomes. My background in working with students with learning disabilities, including ADHD, allows me to implement inclusive teaching practices that accommodate diverse learning needs. Additionally, my strong communication skills and enthusiasm for teaching help to foster a positive and motivating atmosphere.
