About Shelia
My undergraduate BA degree in teaching English Language Learners
My graduate MA degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology
I have been a substitute teacher in two simultaneous school systems in 4 through 12-grade students.
I have tutored English as a second language with students from Mexico, Africa, Dominion Republic, South America, and China with English-only techniques.
I assess the student's abilities through WIDA testing or World-class Instruction Design and Assessment standards to find how much previous knowledge as well as learning styles of the students.
I then create lesson plans that will increase student understanding and development.
I prefer online teaching

My teaching methods are Standard-Based instruction and assessment. Assessing student knowledge through WIDA testing and structuring lesson plans based on student English levels. I scaffold learning tools with differentiated instruction.
Objective: Identifying prefix letter sound of the word
Language: scaffolding objects with word
Introduction: Letter B with a picture of balls, book, etc.
games using b words. Writing the letter in a notebook
with b words. Discuss with partner a b-word and
locate pictures from a magazine. Share with partner
sentences with b-words. Ask students to remember
b-words and share.
As a teacher, I try to differentiate my lesson plans according to students' levels of learning and proficiency.
I enjoy teaching students from 4th grade to 9th grade or young adults.
