About Emmanuel
About Me
Mathematics has a reputation for being cold, rigid, and unforgiving. I've spent years proving that reputation wrong.
My name is Alberto Emmanuel Aguilar-Spinoza, and I am a Computer Science student at Yeshiva University, concentrating in Artificial Intelligence. My academic foundation is rooted in logic, problem-solving, and the kind of structured thinking that makes mathematics not just manageable, but genuinely interesting. But my background goes well beyond the classroom.
I have led engineering teams, managed product development from concept to deployment, and represented startup ventures at national competitions. I have mentored children and teenagers in community settings for years, and I have done so across cultures and continents, including during a formative internship in Israel, where I learned that the ability to communicate clearly and patiently is every bit as important as technical knowledge.
What all of that experience gave me is something no textbook can teach: the ability to meet people where they are. I know what it feels like to be in a room where everyone else seems to understand something that you don't. I know the quiet frustration of trying harder without getting further. And I know, from having worked through it myself, that the solution is almost never "try harder," it is "think differently."
That is precisely what I bring to every session. A calm, patient, and structured presence. A genuine investment in your progress. And the professional discipline to show up prepared, consistent, and fully committed to your success.
You are not just hiring a tutor. You are gaining someone who takes your education seriously, because I believe that understanding mathematics is not a gift you are born with. It is a skill you build, one honest conversation at a time.

My Approach
Before I ever write a single equation on the board, I ask you a question: What do you think is going wrong?
That is where every session begins, not with a worksheet, not with a drill, but with a conversation. Because in my experience, the student already has a sense of where things started to unravel. They just haven't been given the space to say it out loud. Once we name the problem together, we can solve it together.
I believe math is fundamentally a language, a way of describing patterns and relationships in the world. Too often, students are handed numbers without meaning, formulas without context, and procedures without understanding. My job is to reverse that. Whether we're talking about fractions, algebra, geometry, or anything in between, the goal is always the same: make sure you understand the idea, not just the steps.
Who I Work With
I tutor middle school and high school students in mathematics, from foundational pre-algebra all the way through advanced coursework. No matter where you are on that spectrum, you are welcome here. Whether you're struggling to keep up, trying to get ahead, or simply looking to build real confidence in a subject that has always felt uncertain, this is the right place.
How a Typical Session Works
We start by talking. I'll ask you to walk me through what you think isn't clicking, not to test you, but to listen. Students often know more than they give themselves credit for, and sometimes all it takes is articulating the confusion to begin dissolving it.
From there, we work through the material together, not me lecturing at you, but both of us exploring. I'll explain concepts through real-world examples, visual thinking, and analogies that make the abstract feel tangible. If something isn't landing one way, we'll find another way in. There is always another angle.
By the end of a session, the measure of success isn't whether you got the right answer, it's whether you understand why the answer is what it is.
What Sets Me Apart
I've spent years leading, teaching, and mentoring. From guiding youth in a synagogue setting, to managing cross-functional engineering teams, to interning at a tech startup in Israel, where I had to translate complex ideas into action fast. Through all of it, I've learned that the best kind of teaching is built on trust, patience, and genuine curiosity.
I bring that same spirit into every tutoring session. I don't talk down to students, and I don't give up on them. I meet you where you are, and we move forward from there, at your pace, on your terms.
Math doesn't have to be something that happens to you. With the right guidance, it becomes something you own.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
We know each other from university and we have studied many times together. He is very capable at understanding and teaching material in many different ways and always manages to find the best way to explain and simplify convoluted concepts. Even when he is busy he finds the time to give his full focus to help someone understand something, as he has done for me personally many times, especially with calculus.
Emmanuel helped me with my precalculus which I had massive problems with. He is a very helpful and nice teacher that'll explain everything quick and understandable.
