About James
Hi, I’m James, I recently graduated in the top 5 of my Computer Science cohort at Durham University. During my time at university, I had the opportunity to mentor many students in mathematics and programming.
Since graduating, I miss mentoring and sharing knowledge with other students so I am taking on students for GCSE and A-Level maths tuition.
In my free time I enjoy going to the gym and exploring the outdoors.

In the classroom, maths can be obscure and presented in a dull fashion. This can leave you feeling as if you are memorizing ‘useless facts’ or ‘methods to solve problems’, without understanding why they are true or useful.
I believe that with the correct style of teaching, maths can be interesting and relevant.
I have a style of first-principles teaching, where concepts are taught from the ground up, building on previous knowledge to discover new concepts and tackle more interesting problems.
The structure of the sessions can be tailored to your needs, I can teach the course content, we can deep-dive on topics that you struggle with, or we can cover exam questions. I prefer that lessons run for an hour.
