Nowadays major problem in studying arises from not knowing the basics.
I prefer to teach from basics to build strong fundamental knowledge of the subject.
If student is already familiar with the basics then I will directly concentrate on getting high scores.
After building strong fundamentals I will reassess areas in which student is getting difficulties to find solution.I will try to teach that areas again with different approaches until student is confident and practiced enough to pass the test.
