About Georgia

I’ve worked with young people and adults facing a range of social, emotional, and educational barriers. Some didn’t go to school and some excelled; some hated English and some couldn’t speak it. With this, I’m passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive environment where people feel able to succeed in a safe learning space regardless of your previous education. I have a strength in tackling apathy, making people engaged and inspired whilst excelling on academic and personal barriers. Although I am open to helping people of all ages, the students I have taught previously range between college students (15-18) to adults (19+).

have other services available if you don’t require 1:1 learning support and just need extra help with your studies.

I can assist with:
* Revision strategy and timetables
* Time management for studying alongside life commitments
* Exam walkthroughs and assessment breakdowns
* Marking work to criteria and helping with practising exams
* Spoken language assessment preparation
* Community help, work / scenario-based learning and conversational practice
* Extra materials, signposting and resources to help you alongside your studies
* Employability support, CV writing and assistance in looking for work
* One-off or bespoke 1:1 support tailored to you, your studies and your other commitments

About the lesson

My classroom is a kind, judgement-free and facilitating space for you to positively learn, make mistakes and improve your confidence in English. My lessons are learner-centred all the way. I make sure to put in regular brain breaks, breakdowns of bigger tasks and tailor activities and support to your needs and preferences. I love English and invoke joy and interest into my classes too, which always helps when learners are demotivated or struggling with the subject.

Your consultation will be primarily for tailoring tutoring to work for you. This is where we will look at what qualifications or criteria you would like tutoring for, look at your schedule and ability to commit (weekly, bi-weekly, bespoke, etc), and what sort of tutoring you would like (online or face-to-face).

Your first lesson will be me gathering information about you, your ability and what areas of your studies you would like and may need to work on. I may get you to complete a diagnostic assessment, which can be done in session or prior. We would also trial out what sort of tutoring you would like and what benefits you the most, whether it’s a workshop, mentoring or lesson style. We’ll also look at what other help you may want alongside your sessions. This is to get the most out of your tutoring but to also make sure it’s productive for you.

After that, we can work out how many sessions you’d like going forward, how frequent and how long each session will be as well as flexibility between online and face-to-face lessons. We can use your studying timetable / your normal week / work towards any mocks, exams or deadlines coming up to figure out what to focus on each session and how much time you have to work on things. I’m a big believer in forward planning and being transparent with you but also being flexible and honest.
