About Ava
Hello there! I'm Ava :) I am an undergraduate student at UBC studying Commerce + Computer Science with a background in teaching. I love to travel, learn about different cultures, and solve derivatives! I have been a math tutor for three years (algebra, intro to calc, arithmetic, geometry etc.), and am continuing my studies in calculus. I've also spent several months abroad teaching ESL in Korea and Vietnam, and have my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate). I hope to meet you soon and start you on your pathway to success!

Hello! My Math lessons target students learning the basics of mathematics who want a strong foundation. My ESL lessons target students who have A2-B2 level English, and are eager to improve conversational and grammatical English. The key qualities I teach with are patience and specificity. Patience: Patience is the most important quality to aid learning. Learning can be stressful at times. Patience is key to having a smooth and productive experience. Specificity: Each individual is different. Learning styles, demographic, and mindset can affect a student's learning. As a tutor, I understand this and create lesson plans unique to each student and their abilities.
