About Sophia
Hi! I’m Sophia, and I’m well versed in chemistry and math concepts. I’ve taken advanced chemistry courses such as AP Chemistry all the way through organic chemistry and scored A averages on the tests. I’ve also taken math courses including AP calculus BC all the way through Calculus II in college with excellent grades! If you are or have a student who would like extra assistance in grasping chemistry, pre-calculus, trigonometry, or algebra, I have acquired not only knowledge, but also experience teaching them through study groups I’ve participated in at my university. I would be happy to work with you one-on-one to heighten your test scores, walk through any homework, and improve your overall understanding! I know that we can come up with a great study path that will fit your learning style. We can go through your homework together, I can give you problem tutorials, answer any questions, and also come up with effective studying strategies.

My tutoring style is causally step-wise: first we will examine a problem you are stuck on, then we will figure out the fundamental concept that is needed to understand how to get to the answer, then we will solve the problem together. After, we will work on a similar problem (from your homework or textbook) where I will ask you to try it on your own as far as you can get, and give you hints and reminders as you go on until you are able to do it all by yourself. I will be very patient and professional: learning doesn’t need to be stressful, instead it can be an ordered process that can help you gain opportunities to grow and achieve your goals! Remember: while practicing, the faster you fail to do a problem, the quicker you’ll be able to see what gaps in your knowledge caused it so that you can fix it before the real test comes.
