About Mark
I work particularly well with thoughtful, creative, or anxious students who benefit from a steady, encouraging guide. My teaching style is adaptable and conversational, and I enjoy meeting students exactly where they are — intellectually and emotionally.
I typically work with students over time, meeting weekly, and I’ve helped hundreds gain admission to top universities in the US and abroad.
I've worked in private practice for over 25 years and I’ve maintained a longstanding profile on WyzAnt, where I worked with students and built extensive parent and student references.

I'm a long-time private educator and writing mentor trained in academic writing at the graduate level (B.A. English Literature, M.A. International Relations), with over 25 years of experience working one-on-one with students, from early college prep / counseling and university selections, to the personal statement essay process for college applicants.
I help students find their own voice, rather than sounding coached or artificial. My work begins with understanding a student's intellectual story, then shaping those into a coherent narrative that aligns with each university's values. From brainstorming through final drafts, I focus on clarity, authenticity, and strategic positioning.
