About Joseph
I am a MA Cognitive Science graduate, having recently completed my degree at the University of Edinburgh. I have been tutoring both 1 on 1 and group sessions for the past 3 years, from ages 8 to 18, including students with learning difficulties. I bring a wealth of experience and practical resources to help students towards both a better understanding of maths and improvements in examination performance.

My teaching method is student-centric: finding out what areas the student is and isn't comfortable in, and working through what cognitive mechanics underpin the areas of difficulty. Often when there is a fundamental misunderstanding of the maths, a varied approach of audio, visual, worked examples, practise and student-explanation based learning is best. In other cases, it often comes down to practise and confidence. My approach is to find out what the students needs are, to understand their way of thinking, and to work together to find what form of learning will best help the student.
