About Rubin
My name's Rubin Johnson, and like many of you I too was and still am obsessed with the sport of basketball. I struggled with overuse injuries, training hours at the crack of dawn and after school till dinner. My family moved house often as a child so I was always changing clubs and areas alike. But no matter what I kept training. I didn't know what I was doing for much of this time, and it wasn't until my late teens/early 20s that I went back and relearned much of the game's skills, breaking down bad habits and rebuilding from the ground up. It took time and was terribly frustrating, but is now everlastingly rewarding and a huge inspiration for why I do what I do.
I don't want up and coming players spending years passionately pursuing basketball but building poor self-sabotaging habits within their skills unknowingly, nor to bust the bank in the process of addressing said coaching needs. Thus, I offer my services

I have over 7 years spent overlooking and providing group and specific training/coaching services to basketball players and teams.
My job is to give you the tools you need to become the best player you can be, and to have some fun along the way.
In saying this, I expect a lot from my students, and take their time very seriously. Despite a players current level, training spans and confidence levels, all players will be taken through foundational methods as to concrete the base of the game *prior* to individualised training. E.g If a player cannot shoot efficiently or well enough to be practical, I will not further their abilities until their shot technique is sound. As every repetition of a bad habit further ingrains it.
I cover everything from passing, shooting and dribbling to individual footwork expressions for certain scenarios, as well as hold students to a standard of conditioning and fitness that aligns with their goals. Homework/drills to be done daily in their own time will be given every session.

Perfect! Rubin was patient, relaxed, positive, and incredibly supportive. Even from the warm-ups, his knowledge and experience were obvious—he broke things down simply, corrected our form without ever killing confidence, and kept the whole session fun. We genuinely felt like we learned ten lessons’ worth in one. He also gave us clear drills we can keep practicing between sessions, which is gold when you’re just starting out. Highly recommend!

Flat rate of $25 for all players looking to attend group skill sessions. $20 for first time attendance and bringing friends. The flat $25 is to enable affordability and reliability.
If you want more personal and catered coaching, holistic in natural to cover all the aspects and components of what helps an athlete have success in their sport, my 1:1 rates start at $100 a session.
