About Minami
Hi! My name is Minami, and I have been playing the flute for over 14 years, and teaching for the last year. Along with my early piano training, I have been a musician for as long as I can remember, so I know a thing or two about how frustrating and time consuming it can be to practice something over and over, all by yourself. Since becoming a professional musician after earning my music degree, I have learned a lot about the technicalities and intricacies of flute playing, and thoroughly enjoy teaching young musicians how to enjoy playing music while working hard to get better.

The most important part of being a musician, especially in the beginning learning phase, is patience. As a teacher, I like to work with students in developing effective and efficient practice styles that are specific to the individual, as no one learns in the same way. Students of mine have been beginner and intermediate level, ranging from 4th to 7th grade. My focus is on tone development, rhythmic fluency, and musicality.

Perfect! Minami was patient with my 9 year old beginner. She gave easy concepts to guide my child to better techniques and was very nice the whole time. My 9yo liked her too.

Minami was my friend from UCI! We had to prepare a difficult piece for chamber music ensemble in a short amount of time, and she took the lead with our group and really made sure we were being efficient with our time. She is incredibly musical, well rounded, and a talented flutist. She was very fun to work with and was a joy to be in rehearsal together. I recommend her as a tutor because she is kind, hard working, and empathetic.
