About Jack
I am a classically trained painter and educator with four years of intensive training at the Florence Classical Arts Academy, where I studied drawing and painting in the Russian academic tradition.
As both a practicing artist and dedicated teacher, I strive to create a supportive, professional environment where students feel challenged, encouraged, and confident in their progress. I believe that artistic ability is developed through clear instruction, thoughtful practice, and genuine curiosity and not innate talent alone.
Whether you are picking up a pencil for the first time, preparing a portfolio, or looking to refine your technique, I will help you build a strong foundation based on observation, craftsmanship, and an understanding of the principles that have guided great artists for centuries. My goal is not simply to help you produce better drawings and paintings, but to give you the knowledge and confidence to continue growing independently as an artist.

My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic tradition that I studied at the Florence Classical Arts Academy. I believe that drawing and painting are not mysterious talents but skills that can be developed through clear instruction, careful observation, and consistent practice. Rather than encouraging students to copy what they see mechanically, I teach them to understand the underlying structure of form, light, perspective, anatomy, and composition so they can approach any subject with confidence.
Every lesson begins with a short demonstration, followed by guided practice and individual feedback. I make corrections directly on a separate sheet so students can clearly understand not only what to change, but why. Lessons progress systematically, beginning with constructive drawing, simple geometric forms, and still life before advancing to portraiture, the figure, and oil painting. Students are also encouraged to develop a daily sketchbook habit, as I believe regular drawing from life is the single most effective way to improve.
My lessons are suitable for complete beginners, intermediate students, university applicants building portfolios, and experienced artists who wish to strengthen their academic drawing and painting skills. Every lesson is adapted to the student's goals while maintaining a structured progression that builds confidence through genuine understanding rather than shortcuts.
